As it is

An Exhibition of Paintings and Printmaking
by Pamela de Brí.

"One must always maintain one's connection to the past and yet ceaselessly pull away from it. To remain in touch with the past requires a love of memory, […] a constant imaginative effort."
-- Gaston Bachelard. (Fragments of Poetics of Fire, 1988)

The artist Pamela de Brí is concerned with the infinite continued progress of existence and events in the past and the present.

“I draw inspiration from observing the changes in the world around me. This is informed by my interest in Irish cultural and environmental landscape and its traditions. The past has a fundamental influence on social order and the humanities. Objects and images from the past embody cultural memory and characterize the future.”

Through her explorations of the transience of culture, she offers us a perspective on temporality, utilizing the varying medium in her work to comment on and respond to an ever-evolving world, thereby critiquing values and trends that result from social and political changes.

This body of work, a mixture of mixed media paintings and hand-prints, explores the depths of temporality by examining changes brought about by human and environmental processes.

This exhibition is supported by Inniscara Gallery, who have waived their commission, and by Getcover Insurance (www.getcover.ie), who are sponsoring the invitations. 50% of sales will be donated to Professor John Crown and the Clinical Research Oncology Unit.
